Newest Reports

September 21, 2007 - I was scammed by a Mr. Jackson/Mr. Victor from Nigeria with sending them funds for a $20,000.00 loan, which never took place. Mr. Jackson tells me he took the money but because his secreatry Mr. Victor absconded with the money I need to send him another $600.00 for the loan. Be aware he preys on people by using the name of God as a man of honor. Admin notes: We advise that you not send money to Nigeria, or to anyone who calls himself God.

September 16, 2007 - I sent 1040.00 to Greatwell Financial Resources in Toronto for "insurance" for a 7000.00 loan. I wish I had done more research to know that it was bogus. Their website and phone numbers are still active be careful don't send these scumbags your money!!

September 6, 2007 - I have a real bad feeling about a 'loan company' by the name 'Corner Stone Investments' a girl there by the name Nicole Tompson would continue to call me everyday telling me that I have been approved for a loan. Finally I said ok where should I send the money.(They needed 1600 dollars up front). So she said hang on I'll call you back in 10 minutes.Well she called me back telling me to go to Wallmart and send a money gram to a guy in Canada and that they would reimburse the fee.

Well all kinds of red flags went up for me. And she also seemed very concerned that I wanted the money sent by a currier and not direct deposited, Because she even asked are you sure because if you just give me your checking account number you will get it a lot faster. I said NO THANKS! However, I am upset with myself because she does have a copy of my Driver License, paystub and social security number. Admin notes: If someone has your driver's license and SSN, consider getting a new license and signing up for services at www.lifelock.com to help protect you against identity theft. Indidentally, there are real organizations that work under the name of "Cornerstone Investments". So, be aware that scammers may try to use their good name. Be sure to do your homework and never wire anyone money (or send anyone cash) ahead of any financial service.

August 26, 2007 - I applied for a loan on line; a lady by the name of Donna White called me at work saying she was with a company called ELoan. She said that a loan in the amount of $5,000 had been approved and in order for the loan to be funded, I would need to send in $770.00 either by Western Union or MoneyGram. She told me to wire the money to Mashida Kone, Brampton, Ontario, Canada. She also said the fees to wire the money would be refunded. In looking over the loan documents she sent me, it looked like a Word document. Not real loan papers. And I thought it was odd to send monies to Canada when this company was supposedly from California. Yes, I needed a loan, but I would be worse off if I had sent the $770.00. Admin notes: Of course E-Loan is a legitimate lending organziation. However, the people you spoke with are using E-Loan's good name to hide their scam. Beware that scammers do this frequently. The Real E-Loan will not tell you to wire money to them ahead of services. Congratulations for following your instincts and not sending the money!

August 11, 2007 - We belive we have been scammed by a company calling themselves, "Hartford Lending", after getting a call saying we were approved for a $5000.00 loan, but we had to pay $800.00 up front and we would receive the loan next bussiness day. Well next day no money as they would need another $700.00 from us, for insurance purposes. We didn't have that so we didn't send it. They said they would give us a refund the end of July, and now they keep giving us the runaround on which day its coming in the mail to us. All they say every time i taik to them now is your money is on the way and hang on me. i have a wife and two kids and we can't pay some of our bills and we are very upset how these bastards get away with this. They are ripping people of who are just trying to get ahead, and they should be put away for along time. As the saying goes " what goes around comes around." Please let me know who else i can report this scam too. have already reported it to BBB, but I want to know who else i can go to. We want these people to pay for what they did. Thank You. Admin notes: We are looking to see if there is a legitimate Hartford Lending, that may also be a victim of these scammers (using their good name illegally). Anyone who knows, please contact us. The basic principal applies...don't wire anyone money, regardless of who they say they are with. These scammers have been known to use big names, like Countrywide. So be smart.

August 8, 2007 - I wanted to let you know that I was contacted by a company named 'Credit Solutions' to let me know that I was approved for a loan of 8000, but I needed to send them $750 by money gram to pay for insurance. I of course did not send them any money plus I tried calling during their non-working hours and the same person answered. There number is 1-800-263-4814 and the person's name is Jason Matthews. He now also has my social security number, which I am afraid that he might try to use. According to the paperwork they sent they are located at 1280 finch ave. west suite 411 Toronto ON, M3j 3K6. Admin notes: To set the record straight here, the scammer is illegally using the name of a LEGITIMATE company to hide their operation. The REAL Credit Solutions has a great record, and is based in Dallas, TX, not Canada. Just remember that anyone requesting moneygrams or Western Union wires upfront are bogus.

July 31, 2007 - I was to scammed by a loan co. called Tripar Financial for $5,000 the same way you are all reporting by sending collateral paying a few months of payment up front for insurance sent to Canada. The person i spoke with was Rachel Hobbs. They assured me I would be able to get my money back for any reason, but it would take 15 to 30 days. Then of course the number started rolling over to voice mail and would just say thank you good bye. Now the number 866-899-1451 in New York is on hold until they contact their provider. I have reported it to the BBB the ic-3.gov i reaserched the number further and found out yesterday the number and address in new york is either now or was register to Altimax Financial looks to me as if they are the same people just hoping around areas and scamming unexpecting people like ourselves. I have never received my money back, but i have been looking to see if i can find them set up under another name good luck to you all.

July 25, 2007 - I have been scammed by a company for over 1400 dollars and now I'm paying for it in a bad way. Here is the letter I received:

Congratulations! According to the information provided, you have been approved for the requested loan amount of $8,000.00 USD. It is imperative that you contact me as soon as possible so that we may discuss this matter further, and have the funds dispersed into your bank account. The toll free telephone number is 1-888-304-2843 Ext 107, and I can be reached 9am-5pm EST Monday-Friday.

Sincerely,

Amber Scott
Vanguard Financial Corporation
Senior Financial Consultant

Admin Notes: This is another example of the scammers using a name similar to that of a legitimate company to hide their operation. "Vangaurd Financial Corporation" is not related to the REAL Vangaurd Group, and Vanguard will NOT email you or call out of the blue you to offer you a loan.

July 20, 2007 - I believe to have been conned by the business know as ALTIMAX FINANCIAL, supposedly doing business out of Atlanta, GA. How suprised I was by finding out that I was 'approved' for a $5000.00 loan. I called the number (888.690.9865) was spoke to a 'Todd Stover' (ext 4617) and he said in order to 'secure' the loan I had to Western Union $800.00(16% collateral) to them. Would you believe I even asked people I had no business asking to secure this payment. I was then told to wire the money to 'Shawn Barnett' in Northyork Ontaria Canada. After that I was promised by Mr. Stover that the money plus the WU fee would be in my account the following Monday, Of course it wasn't. I called their customer service to find out that they need another 16% to cover the insurance policy(for high riskers like myself). Again I wired(second time) to the same 'Shawn Barnett'. I must have been dumb as h--- because I waa awaiting for the money to come in, after calling numerous times, 'Russ' the CS supervisor offered to overnight the check (which I blindly agreed). Another Monday came (no check) I called and came to find out that they needed (for whatever reason) another $200.00 for release. I requested a refund(we're at 1734.00 plus $200) and to this date no sign of refund. I called both CS and Mr. Stover's ext and they divert to the message machine. I do a WHOIS on the fake a-- website and it comes up private, which the domain guy says requires a COURT ORDER. Still, I aim to get these guys! NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES!

July 19, 2007 - I received an e-mail from Bill Daily of Canadian Loan Group advising that I had been approved for a $30,000 personal loan. However, I wuold be required to forward by Western Union a $3,000 surety payment in advance of receiving the loan. He said once they receive the $3,000, they would direct deposit the $30,000 to my bank. When I asked Mr. Daily where they were located, he said 145 King Street. When I asked him if that was King Street East or West and the suite number and postal code, he put me on hold and we got "disconnected". I looked up Canadian Loan Group in the Canadian white and yellow pages directory and there is no listing for this company. BEWARE. They are scammers. The phone number they are using is (416) 236-4944.

July 15, 2007 - I was sent a letter with a check in it for the amount of $4,992.00 for taxes from the amount i had won of $262.000 in a lottery. The lottery check seen so real that i took it to the bank and in less than 24 hour it was available to use. From that advance i eas to send some tax mony to a Debbie Lovette in ajax, canada. Everything was a scam my account was clear by this person an a cindy hayes with the number of 705-770-0755 don't be full just bring the check to the authorities and have these person thrown in jail. Admin notes: Beware that scams span far beyond loan scams. The scammers also use lotteries and other phoney means to get you to overnight or wire money to them quickly. Just don't do it.

July 13, 2007 - Nearly got scammed, but dodged a bullet well before I read this website, fortunately. Pacific Financial advertised in a major local paper offering loans foir those with bad credit. After a 20 min. conversation, my alarm bells rang off the hook with the request I create a "moneygram" for "default insurance". Unfortunately, the only info he got ( named Mike Howard as a contact) was the last 3 of my Sin #, my address and full name. I'll be alerting my credit bureau's for a fraud alert. I also called the BBB, with no info on this company, so I tried Alberta Services, again no info, and lastly phonebusters who confirmed with me immediately it was a scam.

It's illegal in Canada to pay money upfront for a loan of any kind, and no legit institution will ask for a western union or moneygram as they will steal your money simply with the reference number you provide.Valuable lesson learned and feel very fortunate to have avoided these bottom feeders.Hope the law nails them eventually!!

July 12, 2007 - My son received a phone call from "Levitate Financial Group". They were offering to help him improve his credit by offering him a 15,000 loan. He was later told he needed 900 for insurance. They only gave him information when he asked for it. (What the name of the bank was, where they were, how to pay the loan etc.) Today they mailed him a contract when he asked about signing a loan agreement. Then they told him to send the $900 to a woman in Albert, Canada (that she was actually a private wealthy woman who helps people restore their credit by giving them low interest loans). So, I did some checking on google and yahoo and my other son did some checking with a site he belongs to. He found this site. Interestingly enough the phone number he had is the same number given by someone else here for Altimax. I'm grateful to find this information today. He was going to send the money in the morning. Now to see how much personal information they got and start damage control. Admin notes: The number we have been given that "Levitate" is using is 888-233-4610. I am glad that you found the information before he sent the money.

July 11, 2007 - I was a victim of internet fraud and loan scam. As many of the other people said before about requesting random loans on the internet and getting approved for a collateral free loan I was shocked!!! DO NOT TRUST ALTIMAX FINANCIAL. I was amazed that I was approved for $60,000, I was desperate and almost cried from being so happy that someone out there understood about debt consolidation. I received a random call on my cell. I was told to fax over my pay stubs, Bank account info for direct deposit, DL, and Social Sec. Card. Everything was like a typical loan. So I did and received the contract via email, signed and faxed it over. Then I was told for such a high amount I was told to send $3,600 for collateral which would be applied to my loan, so I Western Unioned it to Canada; divided up to two different people Anthony Rolpoll and Randy Blair. I was told that I would receive my money w/in 24 hours. No money. So I called and was told that I would have to pay insurance of $1,650. So again, even though my gut said not to do it. I was so caught up in that fact that I can pay off so much money and do so well for my family.

I used up all my cash advances in my credit card and sent the money once more Western Union. I was then told that I would receive the money w/in 24 hours. No money. So I called the company and asked to speak to the manager; a man by the name of Abraham answered and I asked him where my money was. He told me that Todd the person I was dealing with first told me the wrong amount for the insurance and that I was to send $1,550. He emailed me a contract stating that after I sent this money that I would not owe anymore money and that the 60K loan will be sent direct deposit to my bank account. So instead of paying my mortgage payment I used that money plus more cash advances from another Credit card to pay him. I was sick to my stomach and I chose to ignore all the signs that it was wrong to do this. Besides the fact that I was hiding it from my husband; I wanted to surprise him with lavish gifts for home improvements after I had received the loan. So I western unioned the money and sure enough 24 hours went by and no money. I called Abraham and cried on the phone he sounded like he had somewhat of a little sympathy and told me that I would get a refund the following Thursday.

I called the Monday before and sure enough Abraham acted like he didn't know me. I asked about my money and he yelled at me saying that I’ll get it back in a month and hung up on me. I tried calling back but it goes straight to voicemail. So now I have 2 credit cards that are maxed out, one at 25% interest because of cash advancements, my mortgage check that I sent in the mail will bounce back due to insufficient funds; and I will receive either a late payment and/or return check fee. I am -2,500 in my bank account, and I also have pending bills that I can't pay, as well as my babysitter that can't receive a check for the two weeks she spent watching my 2 y/o. I have no cash available except $50 that I was able to find around my house. I volunteer for charities, support local churches, special Olympics, MDA, and community activates and this is what I get in return.....I am not holding it against anyone but this company but I am disgusted that these people live there lives ruining it for others.

July 2, 2007 - On May 8 2004, I was in desparate need of a loan, I began submitting loan applicatons from various sites. The following day I recieved a phone call from a business called BWP Financial. Not even recalling that I had submitted an application, I was contacted by Ralph Garland stating that my loan had been approved and the process could be as soon as 48 hours, once I submitted a paystub, a utility bill 2 pieces of ID and a deposit of $750. Ignoring the feeling that this is not right I submitted all required information along with $750. It got to the point where I was supposedly speaking with the CEO of BWP Financial, who had issued me a promissory note stating that BWP promises to pay me $15000 CAD in which I was approved for. To this day (July 2 2007) I have not heard from these people and have put myself in greater debt. The number being used was 416-207-9971. They have 3 mailbox addresses with the UPS store. When i spoke to a gentleman that works at the store he said that this company recieves a lot of mail, and the mailbox is emptied daily. I have already sent phonebusters an e-mail, however please advise whether I should get the police to investigate the mailbox. This operation was executed in Toronto, Ont.

June 28, 2007 - I applied for a loan through Altimax Financial. And they wanted me to send $2700 for a $15000 loan. But when they told me I was to send it to some one in Canada I chose to not send it, but I did fax back our personal info to them. Also we applied through the Levitate Financial Group, and was “approved” for $15000 but we had to buy “insurance” on the loan, the people sounded very legit told me to check them out on the BBB to “see for myself”. I send my stuff back, did my research, and found nothing on the BBB site that indicated it was a scam. They then told me to send a money gram to Natorie Mullings who is “on business” in Jamaica, but that she would be our lender. I told them that I will wait for her to come back 1 st before sending any money. Well, they called me today from a number. Dot com hotel pop up on the caller ID from 347-562-2648. And that is not the number I call them previously (888-233-4610). That is how I found out I dodged a bullet again. But they now have my info again. What do I do about that? They can't get too far with my credit or bank account since there is no money. Admin notes: There is no telling what they can do with your personal information. They can try to open new accounts in your name, or sell the information to third party phishers and other scammers. Keep an eye on your credit report and watch for suspicious activity, inquiries, and accounts that are not yours.

June 27, 2007 - I was scammed this very way through a company called Altimax Financial In Atlanta, Ga. I sent them $1800.00 and then they told me that it was not enough, that I was suppoed to send them another $1000.00 to someone called "Dulcie Foster" In New York. They further told me that the bank they were using was out of Canada. I have not got a return on my monies, what can I do. Please help me.

Admin notes: I wish there was something that I could do personally to help, but there isn't. We here stories like yours time and time again. At least, your testimony might be the very one someone reads on our site that prevents them from becoming a victim of this scam. I did do a bit of basic searching and discovered three alarming things:

-First, the domain name (website name) being used by "Altimax Financial" (altimaxfinancial.com) was only registered on April 23, 2007 and registered for only one year. That is a sign of a "fly-by-night" phony loan website (here today, gone tomorrow). Second, there are some other postings throughout the internet about this company.

-Second, if you conduct a Google search for "altimax financial" and you will see some scam tales similar to yours. There is always the chance that a scammer is using the name of a legitimate business, but we have not seen evidence along these lines. This appears to be a popup name/website that was established for the sole purpose of scamming people. If anyone reading this believes this to be untrue, please let us know. We want to be fair and hear all sides of the story.

-Third, the loan "application" on the altimaxfinancial.com website is NOT secure. You can see this by looking at the url in the address bar. It says http: rather than https. In fact, trying to force it to https (by adding the 's') causes a page-not-found error. This is not good. They ask for your Social Security Number on this non-secure page which is very risky. Do not apply for a loan on this site, and please read other stories online regarding possible scams operating under this company's name.

June 22, 2007 - On May 18 I sent a company $750 dollars for a loan. They claimed to be BWP Financial and sent me the paper work for a $10,000 loan. They held me off for 3 weeks, saying that the company was going through a "merger" and all funds have been put on hold. Eventually, on June 12, I was told that I would have the loan sent to me by Western Union, but it never came. Nor did they ever call me back. No e-mail, nothing. I had pawned my computer just to get the money for them and now I cant afford to get it back.

June 13, 2007 - On 4th June, 2007, I used the link on an e-mail offer that promised a loan that same day. I got "approval" from someone claiming to be "United Credit Corporation" in New York, who then asked me to send $700.00 as insurance for a $7500.00 loan. The loan agreement I signed stated the direct deposit option would take 24-48 hours. Then on 5th June, 2007, I sent a payment of $700.00 via Western Union to a person supposedly called “Michael Graham” in Toronto, Canada at the request of the United Credit Union representative, Charles Ferguson.

It has been eight days, but I still do not have a loan. Repeated phone calls to Mr. Ferguson, plus two faxes on 8th and 11th June have yielded nothing. He finally contacted me at the end of the day on 11th June, claiming the lender was processing many requests, thus the delay.

Yesterday, 12th June, however, someone sent me several complaints about them from RipOffReport.Com. I contacted them on 12th June, and spoke to Mr. Ferguson's colleague, Heather, and made it clear that my money is not returned by the end of the day, I would file a criminal complaint. However, they did not respond. Therefore, I filed complaints with my local police, the Better Business Bureau, a government consumer group and the New York Attorney General. These people are the dregs of the earth. I am fairly business and scam savvy, yet they got me. It is my fervent wish that they get everything they deserve, prison included. Their various numbers are (866) 503 4942, (866) 909 1527 and (347) 562 2648. Admin notes: The scammers are possibly using the name of a legitimate company to hide their operation. Please be cautious about emails and cold calls from anyone claiming to be from a particular company.

May 29, 2007 - A company claiming to be American Corporate Services and using the number 866-909-1527 wanted insurance monies upfront. Admin notes: The scammers are probably hiding behind American Express and their "corporate services" image. There are other reports filed at ripoffreports.com.

May 23, 2007 - I was scammed by Prime West Lending Group, who claimed to be out of North Dakota but was actually a scam out of Canada. They have since shut down their website but they have renamed it with the hopes of scamming more people out of thousands of dollars. Admin notes: We are looking to find this new website that they may be operating under. The BBB in North Dakota reports that all (14) complaints against Prime West Lending Group have gone unanswered and unresolved.

May 22, 2007 - I got scamed for $1037.88 from "Performance Financial Services" from a Michelle Turner who promised a $5000.00 loan if i wired 958.88 plus western union fees to a Daniel Cavallini in Ajax Ontario needless to say the loan was no good....When the money did not come she told me i had to wire an additional $700.00 to them to get the loan. I told her i wanted a refund on the first money she said it would be 15 to 30 business days before i could receive money. Still do not know the outcome of that yet but i'm sure i just lost it.

May 22, 2007 - I was desperate for a loan of 5000.00 and found a company in our local newspaper and called them because they help people with credit problems. They faxed me forms and i filled them out then i had to fax them back and Western Union them some money, which i did. I didnt listen to the feeling in my gut or the hairs standing on the back of my neck after I sent them the money. They called me back and requested more money to finalize the transaction. I had no more and told them to give me a refund. This whole process took a few weeks and really seemed real. Thenwhen I called to find out where my refund was, the number was disconnected, and the ad was gone out of the paper. I never told my spouse how stupid i was.

May 18, 2007 - I became a victim through a company named "Kennedy Lending Services" that claimed to be located in Florida. I wired them over $2100.00 to Canada on 3/26/07. They were supposed to deliver me a $15,000.00 loan check within 24 hours via fed-ex. Needless to report that I never received the loan that they told me I was approved for and I am now deeper in debt because, at their urging I went out and borrowed the money that I wired to them. I only wish that I had known about your web site and the scam alert before I became involved with these people. I just wanted to get out debt and buy a car.

May 16, 2007 - Sent anonymously "Foresthilllending.com must be fake, because they sent me to docs and want me to pay $930.00 up front for a $5,000 loan." Admin notes: The domain "foresthilllending.com" was registered in the whois registry on May 5, 2007. It was registered for only 1 year. Not a good sign, especially since the copyright date on the website is 2005. Inconsistencies like that are not a good sign.

May 14, 2007 - I was almost scammed. Thank god I am smart and did some research online before I ever sent money to these assholes. They promised me $400.00 for a $4,000 loan promised in 24 hours, the lady sent me the paperwork via email and wants me to send it back with me id, pay stub and Social Security card, then she would give me the western union info. Funny how when she first called I was jokingly stating are you sure this is real, because you know about those fakes from Nigeria who want all your info then take all your money out, she laughed and said "I am not from Nigeria". I knew it was a suspicious when I called her 888 # and it went straight to a pager, when I asked her about that, she said she gets a million calls a day and cannot answer all of them. She called again today to see where my paperwork is, and what do you know she called from a Canadian #, although she told me the company was in Ohio. Admin notes: Note that the scammers ask for your id and pay stub. Once they have that information, they have your identity. Good job on doing your homework before sending them your money!

May 8, 2007 - A company called "North Point Lending" told to send a moneygram to pay the first four months of a loan that I was "approved" for. I did, then no money. Then they said they needed four more months for the loan so i did. Then no money. They said the bank they had backed out, then they said they had another lender to back the amount that was higher, but I would have to get more money to them. That's when I stopped, and now the phone number is not working to talk to them. Admin notes: The Better Business Bureau has posted a consumer alert about this company. Also read information provided by the Division of Banking and Financial Institutions in Montana here.

May 4, 2007 - I was told by Becky Morris that I would have to send money in order to secure a loan through your company, but your website states not to ever send anyone money through Western Union for any reason. What should I do? Admin notes: The name "Becky Morris" is also being used with this loan scam. Lately, as mentioned below in some of the other cases, the scammers have been placing OUR name and slogan on their phony documents to hide their operation. Since tracking is more difficult with Western Union, the scammers in Canada (or elsewhere) have your money long and are back in hiding long before you start wondering where your loan is. By that time, you are left with only OUR contact information. Clever, huh? The scammers also use fake names such as "Becky Morris", "Adam Parker", and "Debbie Newman".

May 2, 2007 - Is there a debbie newman that work for your company # 1-866-904-4719? Admin notes: No. This a "fake" name of someone working for the loan scam operation. The 866 number you mention is used frequently with this Canadian Scam. We recommend reporting this number to Phone Busters if anyone contacts you with this number.

May 1, 2007 - I received information from a company stating that I had been approved for a $5000 loan, however I had to send a security deposit of $780 before they would release the funds to me. I trusted the lady whom I was in contact with and needless to say, I am now out of $780 + $66 western union fees. I have filed a complaint with the New York BBB, but there has been no resolution to date. I have been evicted from my apartment and am now living out of my office and SUV.

April 25, 2007 - I was contacted by someone, that claimed he worked for DIS,  he advised me that I needed to send in $635.00 by money gram for "insurance" on a unsecured loan for $5000.00.  Lucky I have read went to your web site and realized that it is most likely a scam!!!  Thank you for your information,  it help one person from getting scammed, hopefully this will help others!!! Admin notes: I am glad we were able to help. Spread the word :)

April 22, 2007 - I have came in contact with a "loan specialist" using your company's name and had to send them money to "insure" our loan because it was an unsecured loan, and I have been waiting almost a week now for the loan that I was supposed to be approved for.  Please contact me if you are the company that I am dealing with or if you can help, they wiped our bank account completely dry and we have no money now at all. They said the money was coming from Canada. Admin notes: A loan coming from Canada is a red flag. As mentioned below, the scammers pose as legitimate companies. In this case they are using OUR company name. We will never ask for fees up front, nor will any other legitimate lender.

April 19, 2007 - I think I may have been scammed.  I sent $635 via money gram today for a loan to be deposited into my account and never received it.  All of the info that I received said "Direct Lending Solutions" on it and the loan officer was Mr. Thomas please let me know if you can help me figure this out. Admin notes: The scammer in this case is using our company name. We will NEVER ask you to send money for a loan, nor do we work with any lenders who will. The lesson here is to beware that these scammers could say they are from anywhere.

April 8, 2007 - i was victim of one of these scams. desperately in need of a loan to consolidate bills and provide financial freedom for myself and my family i got scammed out of $500. they told me i was approved for $12000 but i had to send in $890 for an insurance premium for the lender to be covered. it seemed to make sense at the time they even sent paperwork saying they were with lending tree, the company that i had applied with. being dumb i sent in $500 western union. then thinking that this sounded kind of fishy i contacted lending tree and they have never heard of the people that i was dealing with. they didn't even have an office located were the people were at! so I called back to get my money back and they said they were going to refund it but they only do refunds at the end of the month. i have never heard of a company doing this, so basically i am out $500 and there is nothing i can do about it. what a dumb move on my part.

April 7, 2007 - I received a phone call stating that I was approved for a loan. The loan amount was for $25,000.00. They said that I would need to send a down payment because my credit was somewhat bad. I could understand that because it was somewhat like a security deposit in case I would not be able to make the loan payments. So I sent the money several times by western union. I sent $600.00 on 2/12/07, again by Western Union. The western union fee was $52.00. On 2/16/07 i sent $650.00, with a western union fee of $59.00. On 2/23/07 i sent $1250.00 and the western union fee was $89.00. On 3/1/07 i sent $300.00, and the western union fee was $9.99. On 3/09/07 i sent $175.00, and the western union fee was $33.00. All the western union address was sent to Canada I have all of the receipts for the western union. I also have a contract that was faxed to me. The phone number that I have for them is 1-866-236-7309. it is a recording. i have made several attempts over  the course of a week and no one has called me back. They told me that the money would be in my checking account on 3-12-07. No one has returned my phone call and there is no money in the bank. I hope there is someway that you can help me out. I thank you for your time and consideration -Anonymous

March 29, 2007 - I was recently scammed by GA Trust Financial, a phony company out of Atlanta, GA which promises loans to folks whose credit deems them 'at risk'.  They ask for 10% to secure the loan and they ask you to send it to them via Western Union.  Depending on the loan amount.  I was 'approved' for a $5000 loan and I sent them a Western Union last Tuesday and someone picked it up last night.  I was promised by the 'owner' of this business that first the funds would be deposited either Thurs or Fri of last week and now he said it should have been midnight of last night.  I spoke to this character today and after I accuse of scamming me, he tells me that his company is legit and that I was approved for the loan, I now have to call a customer service number to find out what happened.  I did a search on Google and it seems that others have went through the same thing I am going through now.  I'm giving these folks the benefit of a doubt, and I don't hear from anyone by Thursday, I'm reporting them to Atlanta Police.  Just wanted to share my story with you. -Anonymous

April 11, 2006 - I applied for a loan about 2 months ago. The lending company kept saying they sent my money with the deposits I made since it was unsecured. But then I would tell them I never got it, and they'd tell me that I needed to send them more money for a deposit. It's now been 3 weeks since I've asked for a refund, I was told I would have it last Friday, and haven't received it. So today, I called again. Now they are saying that I have to pay them 500.00 to get my money back which is a total of $1,294.00 that does not include all the fees sent to Western Union. Then I'm told I have to send $500.00 to get my money back, and they can't take it out of my refund.  I don't have a lot of money and can't afford not to get my money back.  This whole thing has seemed like a big hoax, and now I'm out 1,294.00. What is it I'm going to have to do to get my money back? -Anonymous

We have just started this page to help raise awareness about loan scams. Again, do not ever send money via Western Union for online purchases or for a loan. We believe that Western Union is a great organization that exists to help people wire money to each other. Unfortunately, crooks are using it for criminal reasons, to get you to wire money to them for fraudulent reasons. Only wire money to someone you know and trust. And, in the words of Judge Judy, NEVER send money to Nigeria!
